Blue Wing Honda has announced further changes within their Castrol Honda Superbike team.
With the two new riders, Christchurch’s Ryan Hampton and Invercargill’s Jeremy Holmes joining long time team member Hayden Fitzgerald, new arrangements were required specifically concerning tyre sponsorship and the teams' riding gear.
The Castrol Honda team are pleased to reveal that for the 2012 race season they will be competing on Bridgestone racing slicks in the Superbike class and the all new Bridgestone R-10 in the Supersport championship.
Bridgestone Motorcycle tyre distributor Eurotred NZ said “We are extremely excited to be back in the premier class of New Zealand Road Racing and believe that Bridgestone's proven Moto GP technology will give the Castrol Honda team riders a competitive edge”.
Hayden Fitzgerald recently tested the new rubber and was immediately happy with both the turning ability and the grip levels. “It’s great to have Bridgestone supporting the team this year. I have used Bridgestone tyres overseas and I’m sure they will perform well this season. I’m really looking forward to the race season starting and can’t wait to get back on the track”. Gear-wise all three riders will wear Teknic Xlerator race leathers, Shoei X-Spirit 2 helmets, Five RFX-1 racing gloves and Sidi Vortice boots.
The team will continue using RK high performance Chains, the same chains that have been on the winning bike at the Suzuka 8-Hour for 27 consecutive years.
This year they will also run all new RK sprockets too. Blue Wing Honda and the Castrol Honda Superbike team wish to thank all their sponsors for their support for the upcoming road race championship.
