Ducati has officially confirmed the existence of its much-rumoured (and photographed!) new-generation Superbike, advising media outlets around the world this week that the 'Ducati 1199 Panigale' will take pride of place on the company's stand at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan between November 10 &13.

Pronounced “Pan-ee-gah-lee”, the new model breaks with Ducati’s Superbike tradition by adding a name to its 1199cc engine capacity (referred to as eleven-nine-nine). Borgo Panigale is Ducati's home town. Though the bike replaces the current 1098/1198 model it will not make its Superbike World Championship debut until 2013, Ducati deciding instead to debut it in the 2012 FIM Superstock Championship first.

Pricing, production and delivery times are yet to be announced.
