The largest group of Kiwi riders yet to tackle the annual Red Bull Romaniacs extreme enduro in Romania made quite an impression on this year’s event which ended on Sunday.

Former winner Chris Birch (KTM 300 EXC) again led the way, finishing fourth despite an ankle injury, with compatriots Kevin Archer (KTM 350 EXC) 15th, Phillip Cheater (KTM 300 EXC) 18th and Dougy Herbert (KTM 300 EXC) 20th in the Pro class and Mark Delatour (KTM 300 EXC) fifth in Expert.

Team Kiwi Rider magazine, consisting of Jesse Clarke and Mark Newton, also finished seventh in the Expert Teams competition.

The only casualty was Jesse’s Dad, Sean Clarke who tore ligaments in one of his legs early in the event and was forced to pull out.

This year’s event was won by recent Red Bull City Scramble (Auckland) event winner Graham Jarvis aboard a Husaberg 300 from Husqvarna 300 rider Andreas Littenbichler and British young gun Jonny Walker (KTM 300 EXC.
