SPANISH MotoGP rookie Marc Marquez looks on course to make it three US MotoGP wins from three starts when he lines up for the grand prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday.

The Repsol Honda rider has topped every practice and qualifying session he has been in, taking pole with a flying lap almost a full second under the pole record set by Dani Pedrosa last year.

Not only that, in every session Marquez has turned a faster best lap than any of the riders who topped those respective sessions last year.

These are the sorts of performances former champion Casey Stoner was known for.

For Marquez, it all seems to be coming naturally, as if pre-ordained.

In FP1 he clocked 1m 40.781s against Stoner's 1m 41.925s in the same session last year.  Here are the comparisons:

                       2012                                   2013

FP1                  Stoner: 1m 41.925s             Marquez: 1m 40.781s

FP2                  Pedrosa: 1m 39.783s           Marquez: 1m 39.502s

FP3                  Stoner: 1m 39.182s             Marquez: 1m 38.844s

FP4                  No FP4 in 2012                   Marquez:  1m 38.986s

Qualifying         Pedrosa: 1m 38.813s           Marquez: 1m 37.958s

One thing that has not changed is the brand of motorcycle - last year it was Stoner and Pedrosa setting the pace on the Repsol Hondas, this year it is Marquez.
