MOVIE producer and author Peter Starr is in New Zealand and about to head off on a ride around New Zealand on a brand new Suzuki V-Strom 1000.

Starr has made around 40 motorcycle movies, including the 1980 film, Take it to the Limit.

He will be writing a story on his travels for US motorcycle magazine Motorcyclist so keep an eye out for him on the road.

He will ride to Rotorua on Saturday, March 1, then will catch up with 1988 and '89 Superbike World Champion Fred Merkel in Taupo before heading to Napier, then Wellington.

From there he heads to the South Island and will go to Kaikoura, Mount Cook, Queenstown, Invercargill, Dunedin, Chriistchurch, Wellington, New Plymouth, Raglan and back to Auckland.

He will be writing an article on touring on the new Suzuki V-Strom, which he picked up from Auckland dealership Colemans Suzuki.
